About Us

Duke Design was founded in 2005 by Aaron Duke. Aaron is a currently enrolled senior at Missouri State University. He is majoring in Graphic Design and Photography, and minoring in Art History and Marketing. He started this company as a way to make money while in college. Being a student with low overhead, he passes on the savings to his customers.

The Early Years

Starting with the job as lead animator on GBTV in middle school, Aaron found he had a knack for computers. He quickly picked up programs like Adobe Photoshop and Macromedia Director. In highschool he was a member of the Creative Arts Academy, and was nominated by his high school teachers to represent their school at a national computer conference in Silicon Valley. He was also a founding member of Comcast Channel 15, which is a student run news station, operated in coordination with other districts in eastern Kansas City.

The College Years

After highschool Aaron began working on his church's website, and accompanied them on a mission trip to a Native American Reservation in Nevada as a photo journalist. In 2005 he shot his first wedding before ever taking a single photo class. This is also the year he started Duke Design, and decided to go to college at Missouri State the following January. Some of his clients over the past few years have included Chemical Universe, US Bank, Missouri Bank, Plaza Heights Baptist Church, Pain Patrol Massage Clinic, Ron Myrick Construction, and White Wolf Web Design. His primary client is Missouri Bank. The banners he has designed for them have been prominitely displayed at various locations across Kansas City, including the Kansas City Crossroads Art District and Ocktoberfest. He has also designed advertisement spreads appearing in The Independent, Kansas City's longest running magazine.

What Lies Ahead

Aaron will be doing a graphic design internship this summer and is joining the staff of The Standard as a photojournalist this autumn. After college he would like to work full time on Duke Design and start a family of his own.
